Baby Steps in Cooking

I have always wanted to be an awesome Top Chef, especially after watching the show. Still, I seem to have a terrible touch when it comes to cooking, with everything that I make turning out burned, black, or simply overseasoned. I decided that I would start out in baby steps when it came to cooking by checking out different cooking apps on my iPhone. Seriously, there are so many choices and helpful tips that I don't even know where to begin!

Everyone out there may think that I am a big-time cheater, but my first "cooking" attempt was actually a chopped salad. Yes, I know that it does not count as cooking at all, but I wanted to make something really delicious and creative that I could enjoy. How many times have you been to a fancy Italian restaurant and have eaten a chopped salad that was to die for? That was exactly what I was trying to re-create, and I think that I should get points because I made my own homemade garlic dressing. The salad was truly delicious, and I shared it with my roommate. It had chopped eggs, mushrooms, provolone, prosciutto, black olives, lettuce, tomatoes, and chickpeas, and you better believe that it was the best thing that I have ever made... so far.

Another Karate Kid?

Sometimes movie remakes are wonderful, and sometimes they are not so wonderful... As you may be well aware, the new Karate Kid movie is coming out with Will Smith’s son as the star. Who knows? It may be a wonderful movie, but then again, it may be just as cheesy as many other remakes have been. For this reason, I decided to check out some interesting movie reviews on my iPhone to find out some other examples of pretty bad movie remakes that have been created over the years.

Among the top contenders are the remakes of Planet of the Apes, Psycho, and The Longest Yard. Unfortunately, many of these bad remakes solidify the fact that the original movie is often much better, no matter how old that it may be. A few other bad examples of not so good remakes are The Stepford Wives, The Shaggy Dog, and even The Pink Panther, despite having Steve Martin as the star. It may be wonderful to see the new Karate Kid coming out in theaters, but I myself am thinking that it would be a better idea to download or rent the older movies and have a nostalgic afternoon. Old movies are good for a reason!

Where Is Your Life Going?

If this is a question that you often ask yourself, no reason to keep beating yourself up any longer! The iPhone always has the answers for you, including the Life Goals app. So many people have wonderful aspirations that they never achieve because they are not focused and organized. If that is the case, you may be wondering how to put your goals in place, which is the help that this app can offer you.

This app has many different categories for your goals, like finances, health, career, education, relationship, and pleasure. Maybe you want to revamp your entire lifestyle, and make goals in all of these categories. It is entirely up to you! You can even add more specific and detailed categories, like if you hope to build muscle or lose weight. Once all of these goals are entered, you can view them in a To Do list style, which will show you how difficult these goals may be to achieve. This app shows you the effort it will take to achieve the goals and the impact that they will have on your life if you meet your goal dates. This is your opportunity to succeed in a few easy steps!

Words with Friends Victory!

One of the most addicting apps on my iPhone to date is Words with Friends, and I know that many people out there know what I'm talking about. Of course, I never thought that I would be a Scrabble addict, but when it is in a handheld app at the touch of your fingers, you can't help but obsess over which words you are going to play. I have even gone so far as starting several games at one time, so I am constantly thinking up, mixing up, and trying out new words to beat my opponents.

For anyone out there that feel skeptical about this app and thinks that it sounds nerdy, think again! This is truly a game of strategy, and I absolutely promise that you will get addicted. One of my most recent brilliant moves was using the word "quixotic”, which not only used up all of my letters to add more points but had a pretty brilliant placement on the board. Overall, I scored 87 points from one single word, and any Words with Friends junkie out there will know what I'm talking about! If you have not yet tried out this game, give it a spin, and I promise that you will be addicted in no time.
